Lisette Arellano and Sara Leon Guerrero from the Community Science team hosted a Virtual Bioblitz for MLK Day of Service on January 18, 2021. There were over 100 people in attendance, which was a huge success. |

The Volunteer Team hosted a virtual edition of our annual Volunteer Appreciation Party on January 13, 2021. The theme of the event was "community and connection." With over 115 participants, we shared laughs, memories, and played park trivia. Volunteers were mailed handmade cards with GGNRA logo displayed masks, and submissions by all were organized to create a volunteer recipe booklet. |

Each week during the month of February, our partners at Outdoor Afro are highlighting "Black historical figures in the outdoors, historic places for recreation, and recent achievements by Black individuals related to the outdoors" using the hashtag #BlackHistoryOutdoors. |

The DEI Committee will be hosting a 1-hour special event to learn about Lunar New Year and what this holiday means to the people from communities who typically celebrate it. You’re invited to come and learn about different aspects of the holiday including language, food, and traditions. |
