As announced last week, Alcatraz Island officially opened again on yesterday, 3/15. We are excited and hopeful, as is the press – the opening even made it on NBC’s Today Show last week. Watch the segment here.

Parks Conservancy teams worked hard to reopen Lands End Lookout for door-only service earlier this month. In-store shopping is expected in April. Opening hours will reflect peak visitation times–Fridays through Mondays only.

The last day of work for many of our colleagues who have been laid off is 4/14. In our final month together, teams are encouraged to find ways to recognize these difficult changes, honor the contributions of departing staff, and support each other.

Volunteer Peer Ambassadors are available by for one-on-one conversations, and free access to Claremont EAP support services is also available to you and your family. All staff are also eligible to apply for financial emergency grants from the Bridge to the Future Fund for up to one year after employment ends.

To celebrate Women’s History Month in years past, we highlighted four fascinating women who made their mark on these lands that eventually became the Golden Gate National Parks in 1972.

Hear from Jainita Patel, a former Park Stewardship intern, and from Community Outreach Manager from the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, Yakuta Poonawalla who have both shared what keeps Lands End close to their hearts.

Hear about the strong women in our park's history from today's strong women-identifying rangers. Get inspired and learn how you can also inspire others by becoming a steward of our national parks while earning a special Girl Scouts 19th Amendment Centennial patch.

Join Bay Nature and our very own Lisette Arellano, Community Science Program Manager at One Tam, in conversation with Mary Ellen Hannibal, science journalist and author of "Citizen Science: Searching for Heroes and Hope in the Age of Extinction." Mary Ellen will lead a conversation on the connection between individual action and larger action—regional, continental, and global—and how One Tam's efforts fit into a broader regional and state-wide picture.
