While this is not a complete list of safety tips in staying vigilant in our personal and community safety, please spend some time with your teams and support networks on taking more steps to increase your vigilance and find ways to increase your personal safety.

The recent shootings in Atlanta and Boulder remind us that too often we are faced with trauma, acts of terrorism, gun violence, racism, hate crimes, and other tragic events. When faced with these tragic, challenging events, our needs are physical, emotional, and psychological. Claremont EAP is an important resource during difficult times. You and family members in the immediate household can receive free and confidential mental health support for issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, and grief.

Due to ongoing COVID challenges, we’ve decided to wait to formally open Presidio Tunnel Tops to the general public until spring 2022 rather than this fall. Instead, we will be using this fall and winter as an opportunity for an extended “soft opening” period, giving our community partners an extended time to use and test the space, and giving us more time to prepare a safe and positive visitor experience.

Add to your calendars: April is Diversity Makes Us Stronger Month at Golden Gate. NPS will be hosting a variety of events and programs for staff, including a kick-off event on Thurs., 4/1 at 11 AM.

Our colleagues in Marin County have reached out to their partner agencies, including the Parks Conservancy, for support as they ramp up vaccination efforts county-wide. The Marin County Emergency Operation Center is looking for volunteers to support its Points of Dispensing (PODS) for COVID-19 Vaccines.

Christine Lehnertz hosted our 3/18 staff meeting. We talked about upcoming layoffs and changes, performance reviews, our peer ambassador program, an update from our Organizational Design Task Force Team, and a presentation on our budget and strategic planning.

The Parks Conservancy and NPS will have limited internship opportunities this summer. These include both virtual and in-person opportunities, subject to change dependent on local public health orders. Deadline for applications is 5 PM on 3/29. Please help us spread the word to your networks.
