Thousands of people have been affected by the North Bay fires, including some of our staff. Staff members are looking for places that they can turn to help others. Here are two specific places where you can bring or buy donations for the fire victims, and a compilation of other online donation lists.

Beginning Thurs., Oct. 5, for approximately four weeks, traffic control is scheduled along Mason Street and McDowell Avenue. Work includes loading and transporting materials between Cavalry Bowl and the Main Post bluff, Mondays through Fridays, from 7 am to 7 pm

9:50 am - 4 pm. Alcatraz. Enjoy breakfast and a chair massage! Jillian Kelling, Alcatraz Retail Operations Manager, will be coordinating massage sign-ups manually. Brought to you by the Wellness Committee.

October 17: Employee Appreciation Party
11:30 am - 1:30 pm. Fort Mason General's Residence. Calling all Conservancy and NPS staff! Join us for our annual Employee Appreciation Party, which will include lunch, lawn games, socializing, the Bridge Awards, and cake. The Bridge Awards program starts at 12:30 pm. See you there!

The Conservancy is participating in the 2017 Great California Shakeout Earthquake Drill at 10:19 am on Thursday, October 19th! In order to help get our employees prepared for an earthquake, your Safety Committee will soon send out a series of emails with useful tips and information. Be on the lookout for these emails as we get ready for the 19th!

9 am - 2 pm. Join FOGG for the 7th Annual FOGG Fest at Baker Beach! Make your morning satisfying by stewarding your parklands, and then reward your hard work with an afternoon of Fort Point Beer, lunch catered by Whole Foods and Fork in the Road, music, DIY craft projects from REI, a yoga class, and a silent auction where you can win gear and adventurous trips. The Give Back (volunteer portion) is from 9:30 am to noon, and the Kick Back is from noon - 2 pm. Ages 21+, only with ID.

Save the date for Diversity Makes Us Stronger Week, October 31st through November 4th! Hosted by the National Park Service, the week will start with a Day of the Dead celebration at the General’s Residence and will include events throughout the parks for the remainder of the week. 8 am - 12 pm. Get excited for the next Park Day, which will be on Alcatraz for the first time! Meet at the Alcatraz pier at 8 am for the staff boat departure at 8:20 am. Kick off will be at 9 am and lunch will be provided at 12 pm. RSVP by October 24 at the link below.

Noon. In this session we will examine, not child, but parental development from the prenatal phase through the empty nest, or departure phase, combining the human development theories of Freud and Erikson with concrete, contemporary insights from the book, "The Six Stages of Parenting." To register, create a login at the Claremont website below, and go to the Webinar tab to sign up.

11 am - 1 pm. Join Step Wilson (Golden Gate Raptor Observatory Hawkwatcher Manager) in the field and practice your hawk identification skills. Meet at the trailhead gate to Hawk Hill at the top of Conzelman Road at 11 am. After a steep and gravelly 250 yard hike to the top of Hawk Hill, we will spot and identify the various migrating species and discuss the points covered during the July identification trainings. Varied weather. BYOBinoculars if you have them. If not, we’ll have a few pairs to loan.

October 24 and 25: Parks Orientation Tour
8:45 am - 5 pm. This tour is highly recommended for all staff! Get a taste of the parklands that we work to conserve. The tour spans two full days, with the first day exploring parks south of the Golden Gate Bridge and the second day exploring the northern parks. Though not required, it is highly recommend to attend both days. This tour is ideal for helping new staff and interns get acquainted with the great work being done all over the park! Register for Day 1 and Day 2.
