Academic Internship Program Wins Award
The Academic Internship Program is the recipient of San Francisco State University’s 2018 Community Partnership Award for Excellence in Service Learning. The program has engaged over 160 SF State students in a variety of Academic Internships over the last five years, and many interns have continued to work in the parks. The program will be honored at the annual Civic & Community Engagement Awards ceremony on April 12th.

Traffic delays near Fort Mason Sunday, April 8
There will be intermittent traffic delays at Bay and Franklin streets from 7 to 11 am on Sun., April 8, due to Rock and Roll Half Marathon. Plan to enter and exit Fort Mason via Franklin Street., not Bay Street.

Kristin has worn many hats at the GGNRA over the last six years, having served most recently as a core member of the NPS communications team. TRAININGS

1-4:30 pm. Tennessee Valley. Join Chrissy Sullivan (Natural Resource Specialist) for this informative and interesting class on something we should all be aware of: the threats posed to the parks by invasive plants. Learn results of research within the park showing negative effects to habitat value when non-local, invasive plants are introduced, and discover how we prioritize and control the most detrimental species. Class will start with a presentation, followed by working on a project in the field.

A talk by Sharon Farrell (Vice President, Stewardship & Conservation) which will speak to the larger landscape stewardship movement that is happening in Ca., and, in some areas, nationally. It will also focus on a statewide effort to develop more compelling and accessible language plus principles to help increase the relevancy of stewardship as a concept across boundaries. The new stewardship framework is being evaluated by non-profits and agencies throughout the state, and Sharon welcomes your feedback and ideas to support its further development.
