Traffic delays near Fort Mason Sunday, April 8
There will be intermittent traffic delays at Bay and Franklin streets from 7 to 11 am on Sun., April 8, due to Rock and Roll Half Marathon. Plan to enter and exit Fort Mason via Franklin Street., not Bay Street.

This April, GOGA invites you to participate in the Earth Month Staff Sustainability Challenge! This is a way for GOGA and Parks Conservancy employees to share what we are already doing to reduce our environmental footprint and learn new ways to make more sustainable choices. April 2: Farewell and Happy Trails to Mike Hsu
12:30 to 1:30 pm. Fort Mason Community Garden (behind Building 201). Please join us as we wish Mike Hsu "Happy Trails" and farewell for now, as he begins a new chapter of his professional journey with the Sierra Club. Cake and light refreshments will be served. And favorite, funny Mike stories welcome, of course!

April 4: 2018 Public Safety Day
9 am-noon. Fort Baker. Golden Gate National Recreation Area will be hosting the 2018 Public Safety Day in the grassy field near the USCG Station Golden Gate. This annual event allows children to meet and interact with local emergency services personnel, including NPS Park Rangers, Aquatic Safety and firefighting personnel, Park Police, US Coast Guard and more. A helicopter is scheduled to arrive on the Parade Ground at 10:30 am. Direct questions to Park Ranger Tony Henner at 415-725-1466.

A talk by Sharon Farrell (Vice President, Stewardship & Conservation) which will speak to the larger landscape stewardship movement that is happening in Ca., and, in some areas, nationally. It will also focus on a statewide effort to develop more compelling and accessible language plus principles to help increase the relevancy of stewardship as a concept across boundaries. The new stewardship framework is being evaluated by non-profits and agencies throughout the state, and Sharon welcomes your feedback and ideas to support its further development.

California's drought discussions have been dominated by media attention and public discourse about the supply of water while the impact on soil resources has been largely ignored. Hear Stephen Andrews (UC Berkeley Professor specializing in soils) discuss climate change and drought through a soils lens, and learn how soil depletion could be a greater human threat than diminished water supplies.
