April 17: My Journey, The Conservancy Journey, and Our Future Journey – a Presentation and Conversation with Greg Moore

11am - 3 pm. George "Rocky" Graham Park, Marin City. The Parks Conservancy and HPHP Bay Area partners are celebrating National Park Rx Day this year in Marin City. Family-friendly fun will include art, yoga, boxing, swag, informational booths and more. Come on out and show your support.

8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Fort Mason, General's Residence. Registration is now open for the 3rd Biannual Sustainability Summit on Monday April 30, 2018. Keynote Speaker, Kevin Bayuk, will provide an overview of Project Drawdown’s Top 100 Solutions to reverse global warming – how humanity can reach the point of “drawdown”, when the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere begins to decline on a year-over-year basis. At this Trail Mixer, you’ll create paper flowers led by Latino Outdoors, learn how to make your own Yerba Buena tea, get salsa lessons from dance instructor Natasha Tia, and take a tour of the native plant nurseries before getting your hands dirty from transporting seedling into pots. All while enjoying complimentary brews from Fort Point Beer Company, “noshies” from Whole Food, and a lounge from REI. Note: The event is for adults 21+, so bring your ID. 1:30 - 5:00 pm. Crissy Field Center. Complex childhood trauma is often misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and treated as an afterthought in many settings. Educators will learn how trauma affects the developing brain and the lifelong issues associated with it, before discussing best practices for integrating a trauma-informed lens into education settings and programs. 1 - 4 pm. Presidio Nursery. Stacy Jacobsen (Presidio Nursery Seed Collection Ecologist), Desmond Murray (Presidio Nursery Education Manager), and Marion Anthonisen (Biological Techinician for the Presidio) will lead this workshop focusing on basic taxonomy, botanical identification resources, and plant identification with an emphasis on troubleshooting morphological keys. The class will discuss and employ a full range of plant ID resources available to the beginning botanists and plant enthusiasts. Follow link to sign up.

1 - 4 pm. Lands End. Join us for a day of discovery at Lands End as we search for wildlife together! The Lands End Nature Challenge is part of The City Nature Challenge, an international effort to connect people with the natural world. Together, we will take pictures and document all wildlife we find. We’ll post our photos to an application called iNaturalist, where plants and animals can be identified by other nature enthusiasts.
