The Parks Conservancy and NPS partnership with the San Francisco Public Libraries summer reading program is in full swing. There are free events for adults, teens and children, including free shuttle rides from libraries to local national parks, nature walks and, of course, reading! The Web Team needs help compiling info on popular hikes for the Parks Conservancy's new website. Please add your favorite hikes, including all the trails involved along the way, to our spreadsheet. If you know more about the hike (elevation, difficulty, length, etc.), feel free to drop that info in, too. Send any photos you may have of your favorite hike to rwhite@parksconservancy.org. 6 - 8:30 pm. Great Meadow Park at Fort Mason. Celebrate LGBTQ Pride in our national park with an '80s-themed outdoor happy hour! Guests are invited to wear their best '80s outfits for some fun in nature. Special guest Sir JoQ will teach Vogue dance lessons, and there will fun activities led by OUT There Adventures, TurnOut, and Aguilas. Tickets includes complimentary small bites from Whole Foods, cocktails from Deep Eddy Vodka, and beer from Sufferfest and Fort Point Beer Co. Event is for 21+ only. 10 - 11:00 am. Do YOU know how to use a fire extinguisher? It might seem obvious, but unless you have practiced a few times, you will probably be anxious, confused and ineffective in the case of a real fire. Taking an hour out of your week to learn how to properly use a fire extinguisher is a great asset to yourself, your coworkers, and the building you work in. Please dress casually. Brought to you by the Safety Committee and Facilities department.

June 8: New Staff Orientation on Alcatraz
3 - 4:30 pm. Alcatraz Island. This orientation is designed for new staff and gives an overview of the mission, history and work of the Parks Conservancy. Hosted by Greg Moore, this special presentation will be held on Alcatraz Island. Please have your supervisor contact Nessa Ramos at nramos@parksconservancy.org to reserve your spot by Wed., June 6. Gain insight into developing and refining effective skills such as performance management, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, operations, and much more. Park Academy will be hosting an Adult First Aid/CPR/AED and Bloodborne Pathogens certification course.Successful students will receive a certificate for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. The Bloodborne Pathogens course is designed for those who are at risk for on the job exposure. Those who complete the training receive a Bloodborne Pathogens Training certification valid for one year. This certification training is 7 hours long (from 9 am-4 pm).
