It's that time of year again! Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy employees and volunteers are invited to Columbia Sportswear Company's Employee Store. Parks Conservancy staff will have access to current season merchandise at employee pricing and can extend the invite to up to four guest. 10:30 am - 7 pm. San Rafael. Volunteer with the One Tam Roving Ranger at the Marin County Fair! In addition to meeting your fellow colleagues and sharing the magic of One Tam with the public, you will also receive free admission to the fair! First time talking about One Tam? 6 - 8:30 pm. Crissy Field Let's have a paw-ty in the parks with a dog-friendly "Tail Mixer!" Treat your best friend (your dog) to a happy hour event in your national park with an activity led by SF SPCA, special treats, DIY doggie Toy station, a winner for the best BARK Ranger outfit, and for our human friends, complimentary bites from Whole Foods, trail mix bar by REI, and cold brews from local brewing establishments. Please note: one dog per adult, and must be on leash at the event. 21+ only event w/ID.

Featured this month is stress management through "Minimizing Worry to Maximize Your Life." In moderate doses, stress challenges you to do your best so you keep learning and growing. But too much stress has a negative effect on your work, mood and physical well-being. Learn how to deal with stress constructively and you can use it to meet life's challenges. Gain insight into developing and refining effective skills such as performance management, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, operations, and much more. 12:30 - 2 pm. Bldg 989, Presidio. John Muir Laws explains how to quickly sketch birds in the field. Learn how to draw better birds with fewer lines via his refined system that will produce basic bird shapes with less trouble. Bring a sketchbook and your favorite drawing materials. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

9:30 am -12:30 pm. Sausalito. At this training, Park Academy leaders will present a summary of research on how sea level rise and changes in fire regime, temperature, and precipitation may impact our protected lands and how we manage them. Ideal audience: This training is designed for staff and interns who work with the public on stewardship, restoration, and science, and may also be of interest to others who would like an overview of climate change impacts to parks.

8:20 - 11 am. Alcatraz. Waterbird docent, Corny Foster, will lead the group on a bird walk around the island to discuss the history of the island, how these birds got to the island after the prison closed, their breeding ecology, threats to the populations, and what the park is doing (and what you can do!) to help protect the birds. Attendees of the tour will take the 8:20 am (free) staff boat to Alcatraz where the tour will start. The tour will be about two hours.
