It's that time of year again! Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy employees and volunteers are invited to Columbia Sportswear Company's Employee Store, June 29 - July 22. Parks Conservancy staff will have access to current season merchandise at employee pricing and can extend the invite to up to four guest. 6 - 8:30 pm. Crissy Field. Let's have a paw-ty in the parks with a dog-friendly "Tail Mixer!" Treat your best friend (your dog) to a happy hour event in your national park with an activity led by SF SPCA, special treats, DIY doggie Toy station, a winner for the best BARK Ranger outfit, and for our human friends, complimentary bites from Whole Foods, trail mix bar by REI, and cold brews from local brewing establishments. Please note: one dog per adult, and must be on leash at the event. 21+ only event w/ID.

8:30 pm - 10 pm. Presidio Visitor Center. Join Ranger Nate for an hour and a half program to learn about and identify stars, constellations, planets and deep space objects. The walk begins with a presentation in the Presidio Visitor Center and continues with an outdoor observation session on the Main Parade Ground. Attendees will be invited use different astronomical tools to help “magnify” their experience! Please register here.

August 7: I-YEL's Yel Out Event
5:30 - 7:30 pm. Crissy Field Center. For the last seven months, eighteen high school interns have been working together to learn leadership skills in a national park. Come celebrate the Inspiring Young Emerging Leader’s program end and hear about the impact the I-YEL program has had on each youth! Did you know there are free webinars and information available through Claremont EAP to help support you and your family members life's concerns, outdoor activities, and wellness? Featured this month is "Take A Hike - Safely." Common injuries for hikers are sprains, straings, scrapes or bruises. You can avoid most injuries if you wear proper footwear and try not to overdo it. 11:30 am - 12:20 pm. Bldg 102, Upper Fort Mason. Incidents of fraud are on the rise, and scammers’ tactics are becoming more complex. That’s why it’s important to educate yourself about fraud. And while no one is immune, there are steps you can take to Outsmart the Scammers. Gain insight into developing and refining effective skills such as performance management, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, operations, and much more. 9:30 am -12:30 pm. Sausalito. At this training, Park Academy leaders will present a summary of research on how sea level rise and changes in fire regime, temperature, and precipitation may impact our protected lands and how we manage them. Ideal audience: This training is designed for staff and interns who work with the public on stewardship, restoration, and science, and may also be of interest to others who would like an overview of climate change impacts to parks.

10:30 am - noon. This hour and a half training will provide you with practical information and guidance on how to respond if you find yourself in an active shooting situation. As part of the training, a retired police officer will discuss police protocols. The training material is taught in a calm & sensitive manner. Topics include tips on preventive measures and caring for clients and colleagues during the incident. Training/location details will be sent after registration. Please sign up here.
