Conservancy employees are encouraged to nominate an individual or team from the NPS for a Bridge Award. The Bridge Award was established to recognize cooperative, partnership-strengthening achievements between GGNRA NPS and Conservancy staff to improve visitor experience and preserve natural and cultural resources. Access the nomination form at the link below, and send to bridgeaward@parksconservancy.org by Sept. 30. Winners will be announced at the Employee Appreciation Party, 11:30 am-1:30 pm, Oct. 31.

The Service and Volunteer Resources Department is looking for a Volunteer Coordination & Outreach Intern! The intern will have opportunities to learn how to coordinate volunteers, small groups as well as outreach and recruitment. Application deadline is October 1, 2018!

November 6: Save the Date - Diversity Makes Us Stronger Week
Save the Date! NPS will kick off its annual Diversity Makes Us Stronger week at 1 pm on Tues., Nov. 6., at the General’s Residence. The week will be an opportunity for NPS and Conservancy staff to come together and learn about untold stories and issues impacting marginalized communities. All staff are welcomed and encouraged to attend as their schedule allows. Stay tuned for information on sessions, locations, and times.

Did you know there are free webinars available through Claremont EAP to help support you and your family members with life's concerns? This month's feature is stress management through "Managing Toxic People." While managing a large team is challenging, there are methods which will assist you in creating a positive culture in your workplace.

2 - 4 pm. Park Academy is hosting harassment training specifically for interns, mentors, and residence ("dorm") managers. John Baum, a trainer and employment law attorney at Hirschfield Kraemer, will discuss best practices in building a respectful work environment for staff and interns. 1 - 4 pm. Explore the Asteraceae (Aster) family through the microscope and learn more about the wonderful world of these disc flowers. Note: attendees should have some experience using a dichotomous key and working knowledge of flower anatomy and phenology. This hands-on workshop will be led by Marion Anthonisen (Biological Technican, Presidio Trust) and David Greenberger (Conservation Management Technician, One Tam).
